Scripture - We believe, according to 2 Timothy 3:16, that all Scripture is “God breathing”. God has breathed into the text making them alive and giving them the power to speak and communicate life to those who read and follow their instruction. In accordance with 2 Thessalonians 2:15 we believe that Scripture is the written record of the traditions and teachings the Apostles delivered to the Church. As such, all other traditions or teachings must be subject to the Scriptures.
Jesus Of Nazareth: Son of God and Christ - We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, both fully divine and fully human. As a man Jesus was born of virgin, lived a blameless life that was fully devoted to the will of God, he was crucified by Pontious Pilate, died and was buried. As the fully divine, only begotten, Son of God, Jesus is the Logos of God. Everything that ever was or will be is made by him and for him. As the Son of God, Jesus humbled himself, took upon himself the form of a servant and became obedient, even unto to death, even the of the cross. We believe God raised Jesus on the third day. This resurrection was a bodily resurrection. We believe Jesus ascended into the heavens and is seated at the right hand of the Father. All power and authority in heaven and earth has been given to him and all things are being brought in subjection to him. Jesus will return, the dead will be raised, all will be judged by Jesus, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus of Nazareth is God’s Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. (Matthew 28:18; John 1:1-3,14; Acts 2:22-24; 1 Corinthians 15:23-28; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-18; Revelation 22:12-13)
The Trinity - We believe in one Triune God, existing in three separate and distinct persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), yet united in one divine essence. We believe this truth is revealed but not explained by Scripture. This is a mystery, and any attempts to declare what the Trinity is must be circumscribed by what the Trinity cannot be.
Salvation – We believe, according to 1 Timothy 2:4, that God desires everyone to be saved, and according to Ezekiel 33:11 God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Scripture plainly teaches every individual is accountable to God for their actions (Ezekiel 33:10-16), and that the wages, or payment, for sin is death (Romans 6:23). God, not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9), has made a way of salvation through the gift of His Son (John 3:16-21). Salvation is available to all who repent of their sins, believe on the name of the Lord Jesus, and are baptized for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:37-38; Romans 10:12-13; 1 Peter 3:13-21). Jesus offers, the gift of his life, through his death on the cross, as a sacrifice, which reconciles us to God (Hebrews Chapter 9). The sacrifice of his life also serves as a ransom to redeem us from the power of sin and death. Through the power of his resurrection, he is able to give the gift of eternal life to all who believe in him (2 Timothy 2:5-6; Mark 10:45; Romans 5:6-11; Romans Chapter 6; 1 Corinthians Chapter 15).
Sacraments – We believe that Our Lord, through the teaching of the Apostles, established the Sacraments of Communion, otherwise known as the Lord’s Supper, or Eucharist, and Baptism. All those who profess faith are to be baptized (Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 3:21), and all believers who have been baptized are to celebrate communion in a worthy manner (1 Corinthians 11:17-34), as often as their local congregation or tradition prescribes.
Church – We believe in the local assembly of believers. According to Hebrews 10:24-25 believers are required to gather as often as possible to exhort and edify one another so that every believer may progress in sanctification. We believe, according to the traditions recorded in Scripture, that believers are to meet on Sunday, or what is also called the Lord’s Day. Though there are many different traditions, denominations, local assemblies and congregations, all those who profess faith and are baptized into Christ are members of Christ body (Galatians 3:27-29, 1 Corinthains 12:12-31, Romans Chapter 14), Accordingly, where possible, we should seek fellowship and communion with all those who call Jesus Lord (1 Corinthians 12:3)
